Tina Brown
Project Director
Tina Brown (she/her) is a project director with Activating Change. She is part of the team focused on ending criminalization and the incarceration of people with disabilities and Deaf people. Prior to joining Activating Change, Tina worked as a program officer and project manager with a primary focus on criminal justice reform. She received her juris doctorate from Southern University Law Center, and she has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas Southern University. As a licensed attorney, she has worked in both criminal defense and prosecution, and has served as a staff attorney working with domestic violence victims. Tina has over eleven years of experience working in and around the criminal legal system.
In addition to her work in the criminal legal system, she has an associate of applied science degree in sign language interpretation, and previously served as secretary for the Oklahoma Chapter of the Black Deaf Advocates. When she is not spending time with her nephew whom she affectionately calls her nephew-son, she is an active member of her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Tina is committed to seeing more equitable and accessible economic, social, and health outcomes for her community and the nation as a whole and finding solutions to systemic barriers that provide challenges to those most vulnerable.
